Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre

Overview

Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre reopened in 2006 when the Swiss Cottage area was being regenerated and it did not disappoint local residents. With such a huge range of facilities available for use, it would be impossible not to find some activity to suit you and the rest of the family. The centre was even named best gym in 2008 and indeed it remains one of the most popular gyms in London.

Facilities

The centre boasts a huge, modern gym complete with over 170 exercise stations. The gym is very well lit and spacious and the equipment is state of the art. The gym is spread over two levels, meaning that specific group needs can be met by splitting the gym into two. For example, the lower level is often used for women-only or over 50 sessions, or GP referrals. The upper level is home to kinesis classes, which is described as an amazing body experience by means of free and natural movement.

The huge gym isnt the only offering at Swiss Cottage Leisure Centre. Two studios provide the perfect arena for exercise and dance classes. Yoga, body conditioning, aerobics and bums tums and thighs are just a few of the classes on offer. For the brave there are classes such as boxfit and there are also dance classes such as bellydancing. There is even a dedicated aero biking studio offering youve guessed it aero biking classes.

If swimming is more your type of exercise there is a heated 25 meter swimming pool and a 20 meter teaching pool, and water workout classes are held there three times a week.

There is also a climbing wall suitable for children from aged 7 plus, experienced climbers and beginners alike; crche facilities; a caf bar; an adventure play area for little rascals(under 12s); a massive sports hall with squash courts; and a sauna and steam room for men and women. There are trampolining, basketball, volleyball and netball facilities and there are also ballet lessons on offer. There are outdoor facilities too, offering seven aside astro turf football pitches.

The centre offers women only sessions so women can exercise in a relaxing environment. Personal training sessions are also available at extra cost.
